Who? Me?

You want to hear about me? If you insist. I’m a twenty-two-year-old from south east England, the youngest of four children and currently a student of Creative and Professional Writing at Canterbury Christ Church University. I would leave it at that, but alas, this should be a little longer.

I prefer to write about other people, other things, anything in fact other than myself. I have a keen interest in writing fantasy and science fiction, but I like to try a bit of everything. That’s me, a bit of a dabbler. I’ll try reading any genre as well. I do this in all things. I try every dish on a buffet, try on every colour of the same shirt in shops, listen to every genre of music. If a person asks me what music I listen to, “everything,” I say. You never know where the gems are hidden, and the gems are hidden everywhere. That’s what I believe, in all things. Perhaps that makes me an optimist. But what else can I say for myself?

I suppose that, given how complicated the world is, it’s hard to express who you are. I think, just sitting for a moment pondering it, that there are three main parts to the equation. What you believe, what you have experienced, and what you have done.

I will not impose my beliefs on you, except to say I have a more romantic view of life than I ought to, and a tendency to slog on through whatever hard times I come across. It’s important to try to be stoic.

I have experienced a sheltered upbringing full of love and care, (being the baby of the family really does have its perks) only rudely interrupted by a few hospital visits and unpleasant school incidents. I have lived in the same house all of my life and have had the same best friend since starting school. Enjoying the luxury of living on the same street as my best friend from then till this day has kept me from needing to branch out too much for friendship (though I do always enjoy meeting new people). Predictably this makes me a more reserved kind of person.

As for what I like to do; I like to read and paint and swim. All very peaceful, and I have very hairy feet, so I must be a rather tall hobbit! I also, as mentioned before, study at Canterbury Christ Church University, so I am a student. However, I also work in a supermarket, so I am the more tired variety of student. I can also drive. I consider this to be the only true skill I have acquired since learning to walk and talk. I’ve got a certificate and everything. Driver. Yeah, maybe I can just be ‘a driver’. Sounds cooler than ‘a student’.

I hope this three-part equation helps give you a clearer picture of who I am. If not, there’s always my profile picture in the top right.
