What does it mean to be born as a human?

What does it mean to be born as a human? Is it all about the pain and suffering? All we see around us is conflict and a constant war, internal and external. If that’s what human life accounts to, is it even worth it? Why do we spend all our lives trying to come out of a conflict, to avoid conflict, to somehow make it disappear behind the curtains and hope for a peaceful life? What does peace mean anyway?

In this constant pull and push, life keeps on passing us, unnoticed. We end up living a life built on illusions that we have created to avoid that very conflict. We don’t realise the conflict that we are running away from or going at war with is within us, and we can’t escape it. The truth is duality is nature of life. Only because there’s night, we know of the dawn. Only because there’s loss, we know the value of gain. Only because there’s constriction, we appreciate freedom.

The duality of deep suffering and boundless love exists at the core of our existence. These aren’t the opposites, if we observe and listen, we’ll see they are two sides of One. The key is in accepting this duality and knowing that universe works on balance. Freedom comes from discipline, the urge to bring in discipline comes only when we are free. Love comes from suffering, and suffering has the potential to bring out our depths of love.

While we are locking ourselves down in our pain, the key to love is hidden under those debris.
