Why do you think sharing a meal with others is something that all cultures do?

Sharing a meal with others is a common thing that we all do in our daily life. In my opinion, it is an easy way for us to catch up, keep in touch and build closer relationship with our friends and family. When I was a child, I went to school in the morning and had to go to cram school in the evening. My father will give me money to buy meals for myself, and I will be back home around 10 at night. When I went back home, I still had homework to do and then I will go to bed directly after finish doing my homework. At that time, I will only talk to them when I walked in our house, and the only thing I said was “I’m back.” Sometimes I don’t even see my parents all day because they already went to work or still sleeping when I woke up, and they were asleep or still working when I went home. It’s obvious that we don’t take and communicate on weekdays. Therefore, my family will go out for dinner on weekends. During the meal, my parents will ask me how were my studies and what had been going on recently. My parents will also share lots of information with us, too. This was a similar situation that my friends and I had. We had different lives and jobs after we graduated from school. Therefore, it was hard for us to meet regularly. However, we will try to gather to have a meal because it is the most easy and convenient way to meet others. Thus, I think people worldwide share a meal with others have the same reason that I do.
