Inspired to Teach

Matthew 28:19–20

19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Good teachers are a gift, they go out of there way to give there students what we need, I wrote about a bad experience with a teacher my Sophomore year, but now I’d like to talk about an amazing teacher I had for the first half of my Freshmen year, personal issues led to her having to take sometime off later that year, but she was a remarkable teacher one who instead of discouraging me, or downright making fun of me, the way an English Teacher the following year did, encouraged me to soar with my dreams.

If I hadn’t had a teacher like Miss Q, I may have given up on my dreams, my family for the most part supported me, but having a teacher believe in you, even allowing me to substitute assignments that didn’t fit who I was as a student for Creative Writing Assignments she’d grade me for, short stories she’d encourage me to submit the stories even submitting one or two on my behalf, preparing me for life as an author, though I could have no idea that’s what she was doing then.

Mrs Q was not a pushover, not by any means, by the time I was in her class she’d had years of teaching under her belt, but she worked to understand her students, and meet them where they were. A far cry from the teacher I had my Sophomore year, the one who literally made fun of her pupils, if I hadn’t had Mrs Q before I had Mrs X, I may not have believed in myself enough to even entertain the possibility of becoming a writer, but because Mrs Q believed in me, making me see the possibility of my dreams, here I am sharing my stories.

It was Mrs Q that made me realize that working with children on some level was in the realm of possibilities, and I’d began that first through an R.O.P Program my Senior year of high school, and later I’d work in various Children’s ministries, again I owe Mrs Q gratitude for this.

I hope you’ve all had the experience of a wonderful teacher like Miss Q in your lives, a teacher that reminded you of the possibility that lies within you.
