I just celebrated my birthday this week. I also picked up a Pumpkin Spice Latte at my local big chain coffee cafe. Every day, millions of people are celebrating their big day and are eligible for tons of freebies from large and small restaurants and retailers in and outside shopping malls.

I walked up to a Starbucks a few years ago and requested a free birthday drink. The server was kind enough to give me the drink even though I didn’t meet the conditions of signing up on the app. This year, I signed up on the app, but I somehow made another mistake and didn’t do a recent drink card purchase on the coffee card. I got the drink anyways! To avoid disappointments, make sure you follow the rules because there is no guarantee that you will get a free drink like I did.

2. Discounts for seniors. You can be in for some big savings when you turn 55, 60, or 65. The discounts do vary and some restaurants provide a seniors’ discount when you are 55 years old. Other places, like my local swimming center, offers discounts when you are 60 years old. If you plan on going to the movies, you can get a $1 discount once you turn 65.
