What if I told you there’s one thing you can do, starting today, that costs nothing and is very difficult to do but could immediately and dramatically improve your health.
Would you do it?
A month ago I was unsure I could, or even wanted to, give up sugar for a whole month and was skeptical that it would make any significant difference in my life.
After all, I’m physically active and enjoy cooking fresh food. I’ve stayed reasonably close to the same weight through college, marriage, motherhood and middle age.
Since packaged and processed foods generally don’t appeal to me, nor am I one to make and eat dessert everyday, I don’t seem like the type that would benefit from a sugar-free challenge.
I’ve always maintained a balanced approach toward eating and, in the past 8 to 10 years have primarily focused on organic foods, simply prepared, that are grown, raised and caught — Fruits, vegetables, lean meats, fish, whole grains, eggs and dairy — with a few nuts and a little sweet stuff on the side because life is all about balance — you know — everything in moderation.
